Hunter X Hunter Palm Funny Moments

Yoshihiro Togashi'sHunter x Hunter has been on an extended hiatus since November 2018, causing a major dilemma for its ardent fandom. The anime concluded well before the manga, but there simply aren't enough chapters being released for new seasons. Despite its various inconsistencies,Hunter x Hunter remains one of the most popular anime series of all time.

Hunter x Hunter's success is largely due to its roster of spirited characters and the fascinating interactions that organically spring up between them. Considering its shonen roots, Hunter x Hunter overflows with incredible fights, many of which would have never been won had the right opportunities not presented themselves. In fact, luck is a significant factor in events throughout the storyline.

10 Netero Dismisses Hisoka's Challenge

Netero Ball Game

The 287th Hunter Exam rookies are taken aboard Netero's airship following the Third Phase where the Chairman plans to interview them. Hisoka informs Netero that a "Hunter License can be very useful" when it comes to avoiding penalties for murder before mentioning that he's interested in Killua and Gon.

However, Hisoka indirectly challenges Netero to battle — this unbridled audacity would have left Hisoka squashed like a bug had the old man taken him seriously.

9 Bizeff Doesn't Have To Pay For His Crimes

Bizeff in Hunter x Hunter

The real power behind the minor Republic of East Gorteau is not Supreme Leader Ming Jol-ik, but the nation's Secretary of State. Bizeff is a mild-mannered man who quickly adapts to the Chimera Ants' takeover of the country and begins serving Meruem directly.

That said, Bizeff's involvement in sex trafficking is downright contemptible — more so because he exhibits no qualms when it comes to "purchasing" women for his revolting needs. Fortunately for Bizeff, he gets away relatively scot-free.

8 Biscuit Stalks Gon & Killua In Greed Island

Biscuit Krueger May Look Like A Young Girl

Gon and Killua enter Greed Island to learn more about Ging Freecss where they are secretly followed by a fragile-looking young girl. Although Biscuit Krueger initially plans to wreck the bond between the two boys, she changes her mind after finding them worthy of her Nen insights.

Gon and Killua are stunned to learn that the seemingly helpless child stalking them is actually a 57-year-old Double Star Hunter (and one of the most powerful characters in Hunter x Hunter). Luckily for Gon and Killua, Biscuit becomes their teacher.

7 Chrollo Lucilfer Finds An Exorcist

Chrollo

The leader of the Phantom Troupe ultimately fails to defeat Kurapika; the latter exacts his revenge by blocking Chrollo's Nen usage with Judgment Chain. Chrollo travels "to the east" and eventually finds an exorcist capable of discharging the effects of his opponent's Nen.

The success rate of such a procedure is exceptionally low given that Kurapika's abilities are highly complex and deeply interconnected. Chrollo is certainly fortunate that his Nen is restored before one of his countless enemies could find and kill him.

6 Kite Gives His Pupils A Head Start

Killua saves Gon from Neferpitou Hunter X Hunter

Kite takes Gon and Killua a little too close to the Chimera Ant Nest located in the Neo-Green Life Autonomous Region and triggers Neferpitou's En alarms. The Royal Guard wastes no time in reaching the trio and instantly severs Kite's arm at the shoulder.

Gon is blinded by his rage and would have tried to attack Pitou if Killua hadn't whacked his best friend senseless. Kite proceeds to engage the overpowered Chimera Ant, giving his two pupils a head start.

5 Illumi Potentially Saves His Father & Grandfather

Hunter X Hunter's Illumi Zoldyck Looking At Phone Menacingly

Chrollo Lucilfer fights on par with Silva and Zeno Zoldyck combined; in fact, the latter realizes that Chrollo isn't trying to kill them. The old man is willing to throw away his life to complete the assassination mission — Silva even prepares to kill Zeno along with Chrollo.

By a stroke of perfectly timed luck, Illumi succeeds in assassinating the Ten Dons of the Mafia, thereby nullifying his father and grandfather's contract. This act potentially saves Zeno and Silva from being murdered by Chrollo.

4 Phinks & Feitan Avoid An Unnecessary Battle With Gon & Killua

After the Phantom Troupe debacle, Gon and Killua merrily waltz into the Southernpiece Auction, taking minimal precautions to ensure their safety. As a result of their naivety, they run into Feitan and Phinks who immediately manage to overtake their inexperienced quarries.

Gon and Killua aren't forced into a fight they have no chance of winning because Phinks and Feitan are only there "to enjoy the auction." All four ultimately make their way back to the bidding ceremony.

3 Meruem Learns Gungi From Komugi

Komugi and Meruem Playing Gungi Cropped

Meruem's physical strength and Nen capabilities make him practically invincible — with the singular exception being Isaac Netero. Luckily, the Chimera Ant King learns how to master Gungi from Komugi, the only character in Hunter x Hunter who never loses against him even once.

Meruem uses Gungi tactics to defeat Netero during their hypersonic battle, going so far as to admit that Komugi's influence is the reason he's able to pinpoint the infinitely small flaw in the 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva.

2 Netero's Contingency Plan B Ends Meruem's Reign Forever

Netero Prepares To Use Poor Man's Rose

Meruem emerges from Netero's Zero Hand attack with negligible injuries, but is shocked to discover that the old man has smuggled a mini-nuclear bomb inside his rib cage. The resulting explosion eviscerates the Chimera Ant King, although he's saved at the last minute by Pouf and Youpi.

However, Meruem fails to realize that the Poor Man's Rose was only the first phase in Netero's contingency plan. The nuclear blast also releases a fatal poison that slowly devitalizes Meruem, consequently leading to his death.

1 Hisoka Continues To Keep Gon Alive

Hisoka and Gon fighting Heavens Arena HXH

Hisoka's intentions are both secretive and perplexing — on one hand, the thought of fighting a worthwhile opponent fills him with a burning passion. On the other, Hisoka admires Gon's potential so much that he refuses to fight the young boy.

In any case, this means that Gon gets to survive long enough to satisfy Hisoka's martial cravings. Further, Hisoka regularly helps Killua and Gon in their endeavors, such as the Dodgeball match against Razor on Greed Island.
